The Czech Republic is a highly overlooked European country in terms of international tertiary education. In addition to being regarded as a developed economy with high living standards by the United Nations, the Czech Republic boasts of excellent education that is accepted worldwide.

List of CZECH REPUBLIC Scholarships WITHOUT IELTS

The Czech Republic offers scholarships and tuition-free study (in certain cases) to international students. While some scholarships are awarded without stringent requirements, it is often required that you provide some evidence of language proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) as part of the requirements for applying for scholarships in Europe, including Czech Republic. In any case, you should learn how to get a waiver for the IELTS.

The below programmes are some popularly known Czech Republic scholarships requiring no IELTS or you may apply for these programmes with some form of waivers.

1 Czech Republic Government Scholarships

The government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships for the entire course of study to citizens of the following countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Zambia. These scholarships are specifically designed for students who have completed their bachelors’ degrees. The scholarships apply to selected study areas that are taught in Czech and selected study areas that are taught in English.

2 Charles University Scholarships

Charles University offers quite a several scholarships for international students who chose to have their degree taught in English or any other available language. Charles University offers PhD scholarships to all full-time students. The university also has various scholarships from its faculties that prospective students can take advantage of. Most of the scholarships are tuition-based but some scholarships cover living costs. There are scholarships available at the various degree levels: Bachelor’s, Masters and Doctoral.

3 Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) Scholarships

If you would like to study PPE related degrees or study at the CEVROINSTITUTE (Czech Republic), there are various scholarships you can take advantage of. Some PPE scholarships are country-based, do ensure you apply for the PPE scholarships most suited to you.

4 Czech Technical University Scholarships

Unlike most scholarships on this list, the Czech Technical University (CTU) is not towards tuition but your cost of living. This scholarship applies to international students studying for a master’s degree or a doctoral degree at CTU. The scholarship is worth about $400 for international masters’ students and worth about $750 for international doctoral students. Any international student that already possesses another scholarship is ineligible for this scholarship.

5 International Visegrad scholarships

These scholarships are mainly applicable to citizens of Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia Hungary, and Poland.) There is a Visegrad scholarship for Bachelor’s degree students that allows the citizens of one Visegrad country to study in a different Visegrad country. There is also Visegrad scholarships for Masters and Doctoral students that allows citizens of Visegrad countries to study in selected countries and vice-versa.

6 Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Czech Republic scholarships

The Czech Republic’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport gives out scholarships every year to students based on the intergovernmental exchange programme arrangement between the specified countries. Note that these scholarships are for study or research visits, not a degree.

7 ERASMUS+ Scholarships

These scholarships apply to students of all nationalities that want to study for a master’s degree. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) are master’s degrees run by international tertiary institutions worldwide. These degrees allow eligible students to receive a scholarship for an international Master degree. Some Czech Universities offer some of these degrees. This means if your intended course of study is one of these degrees and is available in the tertiary institution of your choice, you can apply for an Erasmus scholarship.

8 Masaryk University Scholarships

If you would like to study the Czech language, culture and literature, this scholarship is for you. Six three-month scholarships are given out each year to foreign students that are studying the Czech culture, language and literature. Note: This is not a full-time degree and the scholarships are meant for students of universities outside the Czech Republic already studying Czech studies or something similar. 9 Josef Dobrovsky Fellowship Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to finance the study stays of young foreign researchers at the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS). This scholarship is for foreign researchers with a desire to study the history, culture, geography and language of the Czech Republic.

10 FULBRIGHT Scholarship

The Fulbright scholarship programme is available for candidates other countries to study in USA. Part of the programme is a partnership between the USA and the Czech Republic respectively to provide the citizens of either country the chance to learn, teach or carry out research in the partner country. It applies to all study areas excluding Clinical Medicine, LLM and MBA.

How to Apply without IELTS

Most universities in the Czech Republic do not require IELTS from students who have completed a previous degree in the English language. Best practice is to contact the admissions department your prospective school for some more detailing.
