Free N5,000 When You Update Your MTN NG SIM Information

Are you thinking what i am thinking? Why would one of the largest telecom industry in Nigeria give you awoof of N5,000 when you engage in the recent SIM information update. Well i have to tell you what i know so far. Lets begin.

MTN NG has urged all her subscribers to go through a fresh SIM registration so as to get their information updated. As we all know, this is not the first time MTN is requiring and doing this from her customers.

According to MTN, they called the process SIM CARD UPDATES. What you have to do is to walk to any MTN office nearby you with the Government-issued ID card either Voter’s card or National ID Card. But importantly the purpose of the updates is to put the virtual information you had released during previous SIM registration exercises, including your name, date of birth, address and so on.

If you can recall a few months back, Airtel also forced her subscribers to go and update their SIM cards. Glo and 9mobile are expected to follow the queue anytime from this moment. So get ready.

Failure to get MTN SIMs updated on or before ending of this month (August 2019) may see their SIM cards blocked. The telecommunications firm had sent messages to millions of its subscribers, requesting them to go and updates their SIM card registrations.

Message from MTN NG reads:

“Y’ello! Kindly visit any MTN store with a valid government approved ID. Your SIM details need to be updated before August 19th. Dial *123*7*1# for the nearest store.”The amazing part, there is a compensation for the hassles of having to do the registration again, the telecommunications firm, which recently got CBN license to float financial service in the country, is giving out N5,000 Airtime after completion of the exercise.

Though the process is fast in some areas, but that doesn't change the fact that you will have to wait in a long queue due to the large number of customers that were affected.  The complaints from subscribers have been, how long are they going to be updating their SIM cards, after having done the same process three to four times in the past?

MTN official claims that it was a directive from NCC and it must be adhered to. If you’ve not yet received the message, get ready because it may soon get to you.
