Meet Huawei Nova 4 Launched with in-display Camera and 48MP rear Camera

With the recent announcement of Samsung’s A8s, Huawei has announced the Huawei Nova 4. Both smartphones share the “Infinity O” look which Samsung exhibited with its A8s model. In Huawei Nova 4’s case, the cut-out rests on 6.4 inches of space with a resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels. The cut-out houses a 25MP selfie camera.


Interestingly this smartphone comes in two variants, the High model and the Standard model. Both models share the same features however they do not have the same cameraquality.

Design and Display

The Huawei Nova 4 has a bar-shaped look with a body made from glass and aluminium alloy. It has a width of 157 mm and weighs 172 grams with the battery included.

On the rear panel of the device, you will see a fingerprint sensor at the middle with a vertical triple camera setup. A LED flash lies at the bottom of the cameras. The back panel also has a gradient finish which gives it a trendy look.

Under the display department, the Huawei Nova 8 boasts of 6.4-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels. The full-view display has an aspect ratio and screen to body ratio of 19.3:9 and 86% respectively. The screen has the phone’s standout feature, a small camera punchout which houses the selfie camera

Huawei Nova 4: Camera

As pointed out earlier, the Huawei Nova 4 has two versions, the High and Standard models. These models all have the same specifications except in the primary camera department.

The High Model variant has a triple camera setup with a 48MP f/1.8 main camera with a 16MP f/2.2ultra-wide-angle and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensors. But the Standard version has a 20MP f/1.8 primary sensor with the same camera as the other variant.

In both phones, the punch-hole camera is a 25MP f/2.0 selfie snapper embedded in the screen.

Hardware and Software

The Huawei Nova 4 will feature the older and less powerful Kirin 970 chipset. However, it will beable to handle most tasks during regular use as it works alongside the Mali-G72MP12.

The device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage which you can extend to as much as 512GB with a MicroSD card.

The Huawei Nova 4 will run on Andriod 9 Pie based on Huawei’s proprietary EMUI 9.0.1.
Huawei Nova 4: Battery and Connectivity

This smartphone has an embedded lithium polymer battery with a moderate capacity of 3750mAh. The battery supports up to 19 hours of talk time and a shorter 7.2 hours of surfing the net. It also supports fast charging.

Concerning connectivity, the Huawei Nova 4 has dual slots for Nano SIMs and will support all networks including 4G LTE. The device also works with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 802.11n 5GHz, Dual-Band, Wi-Fi Direct, and Wi-Fi Hotspot. The device also has Bluetooth v4.2 and works with Micro USB v 2.0.

Expected to hit the Chinese market as soon as January next year, the Nova 4 will cost about $490 for the High version while the other variant comes at $450. The phone is expected to in stores across Europe and India soon after its release in China.
