How To Fix YouTube App Videos not playing on Your Android Smartphone

1. Restart your device

There is a small chance that updating your phone’s Android version could be the solution to YouTube not working. The error may have come from using an outdated version of your phone’s operating system. 

To do this, 
  1. go to settings on your device, 
  2. select “System updates”, and 
  3. download the update if available. 
Depending on your device, the “System updates” might be located under the “About phone” option down below the settings list. Once the update has been downloaded, install and let your device reboot.

Then open YouTube and check if the problem persists. 

4. Clear the app’s data and Cache 
Clearing cache deletes temporary data while clearing app’s data gets rid of all app’s data, including various settings. 
  1. Go to the settings menu on your device, 
  2. tap on “Apps”, and 
  3. select YouTube. 
  4. Select “Storage”,

5. Check your date and time settings 
As strange as it may sound, the date and time settings could be the reason for your YouTube issues. Google’s servers might be finding it difficult syncing with them if they are.

To correct this, 
  1. open the settings area of your device, 
  2. tap on “Date & time”, and 
  3. make sure the “Automatic date & time” option is turned on.

6. Update the YouTube app Now 
If YouTube is still not working, the last thing you can do is to update the Youtube app on your Device. To check if an update is available, open the Google Play Store app, go to “My apps & games” and check if YouTube is on the “Updates” list. If it is, just tap the “Update” button and wait for sometime till the update is completed. 
After that’s done, launch the YouTube app to check if everything is ok now.
