Winners Of Facebook Hackathon Receives Awards of 1,000,000 Naira from Facebook

Facebook recently sponsored a hackathon some time last week and it was held at CyberXchange conference in Lagos, Nigeria. Over 250 young student across Nigeria applied for the facebook hackathon competition.


Out of the 250 students who applied for the facebook hackathon, 63 candidates qualified to attend the Hackathon at CyberXchange event in Lagos, Nigeria. They were given two days to work on their solutions for the competition to solve real life security challenges.

The first position team winners went home with 700,000 Naira, they developed a solution that focuses on multi-factor authentication for a big establishment or enterprise to help protect or secure the accounts of their employees. While the second position team winners went home with 400,000 Naira, and the third position team winners went home with 300,000 Naira.


The Head of Security Operations at Facebook, Regina Wallace-Jones, and was also a judge at the facebook hackathon Said:
The competitors worked tirelessly to create their solutions, and we were inspired by their dedication and passion for security. Encouraging this kind of talent is important to the future of the security industry, and that is why we met with several university professors at CyberXchange to talk about how to continue to strengthen security curriculum and training.
