Samsung Galaxy S7 Might Use iPhone 6S’ Live Photo Feature

We first heard Samsung might use a pressure sensitive display on the Samsung Galaxy S7 which is going to be similar to the 3D touch feature found on the iPhone 6S. Being an avid Apple follower, the Korean company is taking it further by introducing another iPhone 6S feature in it’s upcoming flagship device. A report published by Android Geeks indicates that Samsung will copy Live Photos feature on the iPhone 6S. However, Samsung gives it a new name, Vivid Photos.

According the report, Samsung’s software engineers are already working on this feature even though the device launch is around the corner. The feature is supposed to debut on the Galaxy S7 but since it’s still under development, it might arrive later as a software update.

Unlike Live photos which includes audio, Vivid Photos will actually be GIF images that can be directly shared on social media. According to the report:

Unlike Apple’s Live Photos, the Vivid Photo feature from Samsung won’t capture sound with the photo. By ditching sound capture, Samsung will allow users to share Vivid Photos directly to Facebook as GIFs.

If it’s actually GIF, it isn’t really new; devices like Asus Zenfone Selfie capture GIFs.

Samsung Galaxy S7 has earlier been reported to also sport an iris scanner though it’s an unconfirmed rumor. As for the specifications, Samsung Galaxy S7 will pack a 4GB RAM and it’s going to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 depending on the market. There are three variants: Samsung Galaxy S7 with a 5.1-inch screen, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a 5.5-inch curved screen and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+ with a 6.0-inch curved screen. The device should ship with Android Marshmallow.

In another report, the three variants of the device may launch on the same day as suggested in a tweet by Evan Blass a few days ago.
