Huawei P9 May Have A Whopping 6GB RAM

2015 has been a pretty great year for Huawei and the release of its first Nexus device was well received. Nexus 6P has receieved some pretty great reviews but the company isn’t relenting on its effort to dominate the global smartphone market. The company plans to release its next flagship, Huawei P9, this year and the device may pack more random access memory than a regular notebook.

The OEM has steadily risen to the third largest global smartphone vendor. A report we published a few days ago showed that Huawei is the second largest smartphone vendor in the Middle East and Africa region with over 9% market share.

According to the source, there will be three variants of Huawei P9:
  • Huawei P9 Lite with 5.0 inch screen and 4GB RAM
  • Huawei P9 with 5.2 inch screen and 6GB RAM
  • Huawei P9 Max with 6.7 inch screen and 6GB RAM
Rumors have it that the device will be powered by Huawei’s new chipset, Kirin 950 processor. Leaked benchmark tests already show that this is going to be a very powerful processor. It’s an octa-core processor with two quad-core cluters: There’s a 4x Cortex-A72 cores cluster running at a speed of 2.53GHz and another 4x cortex-A53 cores cluster running at a speed of 1.80GHz.

The device will likely have dual 13MP shooters at the back. These are said to be Sony’s Exmor IMX2X6 sensors. There’s a previously leaked image back in October 2015 to support the presence of a dual camera setup.

The pricing is placed at about $767.83 USD which is quite steep. While we can’t assure the correctness of the rumor, there’s a chance that the device will be unveiled at the next CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas this March.
